I have attempted to reset password 3 times. I am using a gmail as recommended as well as checked my filters and different folders in my email to make sure I havent missed it. Recommendations as to how I complete this step so I can move on to the next?

Make sure you're checking the inbox for Riley's email address- that's there the messages are going. You can see what address you had set for her by going to Setup > Users > Users and clicking on Riley's name and there it will show her email address. That's where the emails are going. If you can to change it, click Edit and then change it to whatever. Then they will send a verifcation link to the new email address and you'll have to click that before the change takes place.
