i have followed all the steps and went into preferences and changed it to plain text and still when i paste it in my browser it doesnt come up as the picture shown it just stays as the html text

Well, TextEdit is finicky. Once you set it for plain text, then you need to exit and restart it again so it's in Plain Text mode from the start and only THEN can you paste in your HTML and have it work right. Try that and let me know, ok?
